Providing Early Childhood Academic Excellence Since 1972!
Westminster Child Care Center is proud to be the only child care facility in the Charlottesville area to offer a sliding scale tuition fee based on annual gross household income. As part of our mission to provide quality care to children from diverse economic backgrounds, we also offer a scholarship program.
Eligibility for the scholarship program is determined by family size and gross household income. We invite you to check the chart below to see if your family is eligible to apply.
Application packets are available HERE. The application deadline for the school year 2018-2019 is June 15th.
In response to the need for affordable, high quality child care in Charlottesville, a group of women from the Westminster Presbyterian Church started Westminster Child Care Center (WCCC). WCCC was established in 1972 as a private, non-profit 501c(3) child development center, governed by a Board of Directors composed of parent, community and staff members. Although housed in Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC), we are not affiliated with any religious denomination.
Westminster Child Care Center teaches approximately 80 children from 6 weeks to five years of age. Our mission is to provide a diverse population of families with affordable, high quality child care. We promote socio-economic, racial, and cultural diversity by including families of various income levels. To help meet our mission, we have a unique five tier sliding fee scale based on gross household income, with two of the tiers below the market price for our area. Our Office maintains a wait list for enrollment spaces. While the range of family incomes changes each year, during the school year 2017-2018, WCCC educated children from 70 families with over 30% of those families having low or moderate income. In addition, we have an intentionally diverse staff, a pro-active approach to marketing to families of lesser means, and we offer scholarships funded through donations whenever possible. WCCC cooperates with the United Way scholarship assistance programs. Application and registration fees are waived for prospective families whose annual household income is less than $40,000.
