WELCOME TO WESTMINSTER CHILD CARE CENTER

WCCC is a licensed, non-profit, non-denominational facility serving children ages six weeks to 5 years of age.  We are located in the heart of Charlottesville, VA, near the University of Virginia grounds.  Please call or email our Enrollment Coordinator for a tour of our center.

Westminster Child Care Center is a 2 star rated program in the Virginia Star Quality Initiative by showing commitment to quality improvement. We have been a part of this wonderful program since 2008. We received our 2 star rating by the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation on June 14, 2011.  This rating is valid through June 2013.

HOURS OF OPERATION

We are open Monday through Friday 7:30AM until 5:30PM. We are open year round, except for designated holidays, staff workdays, and a winter break at the end of December through the beginning of January.  A yearly calendar is handed out in the beginning of every year.  Please note that we follow Charlottesville City Schools for ALL inclement weather closing.

HISTORY

 Westminster Child Care Center (WCCC) was established in 1972, as a private non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, governed by a Board of Directors composed of parent, community and staff members.  Although housed in Westminster Presbyterian Church, we are not affiliated with any religious denomination.   


OUR MISSION

 Our mission is to provide a diverse population of families with affordable, high quality child care.  We promote socio-economic, racial, and cultural diversity by including families of various income levels.  To help meet our mission, we have a sliding fee scale that is based on household income. 

As part of our mission, we strive to maintain diversity in race, family income, national origin, gender, and cultural backgrounds among the children and among our staff.

  • WCCC, the Climbers children and families had a FABULOUS time at the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA today. What a fantastic place. Thank you for allowing us to visit and see all the wonderful animals. We especially liked our visit from our dog friend, Horace. Thank you Lisa Milliken for giving such a great tour! Thank you to all the families that joined the WCCC staff on this great trip!
  • WCCC is Closed Friday May 25th and the following Monday May 28th for a staff development day and Memorial Day.

  • A HUGE thank you to the all parents, and families that contributed to our Staff Appreciation Breakfast. We are overwhelmed by the generosity! Thank you for your support. This made our day! Also a HUGE thank you to Derry Wade for organizing this amazing breakfast.
  • TODAY is Teacher appreciation day, please stop by and tell your child's teacher "thank you".  This whole week is teacher appreciation week.
  • Next Spanish class is this Wednesday May 9th at 10AM
  • WCCC is CLOSED on Friday, May 25th for a Staff Development Day and Monday May 28th for Memorial Day.
  • Crickets trip to Chiles for strawberry picking is May 11th
  • Climbers trip to downtown is May 10th
  • Climbers trip to SPCA is May 18th
  • Crickets Olympics and dinner is May 24th
  • Summer Camp Orientation is May 10th at 5:30.  Please sign up for child care with the office
  • Move-up day for all classes and first day of Summer Camp is May 29th
  • WCCC's Spring Fling is just around the corner on June 22nd!  Please look out for details and RSVP information for this great spring celebration.  This year we will have our traditional cookout style dinner, child-friendly carnival games, and a professional deejay in order to help celebrate WCCC's 40th birthday!
  • A big thanks goes out to Josh Lowry and Zocolo for our great tour, lunch and pizza, and hummus making lesson. The children had a great time!
